This project is addressed to:
Teachers
of English, French and German as a foreign language in any EU member state that
would like his or her class to collaborate virtually with a class of 5th
or 6th from primary or of junior high-school school Greek students:
- learning English and ranging from A2 to B2 level
- learning French or German and ranging from A1 to A2 level
Aims of the project:
Our main
aim is to involve teachers of English, French and German in helping their
students communicate in the language they are learning in their class so as to
carry out a project with a view to:
- raising
their intercultural awareness
- practice
the target language within an authentic communicative context
First
steps:
Detailed
guidelines will be sent to those teachers who:
- express
an initial interest in this project
- fill
in a form asking for a brief description of their class, including the
level of language competence of his/her students
- find out which of the following subject areas his/her students would like to work on, sharing information via emails, Skype etc. with the Greek students in order to develop an e- booklet with information about the two countries involved in the project.
More details:
The
classes from Greece and other European countries that share characteristics
will be matched up by the project coordinator (Sofia
Argyropoulou (email: virtualeclass@windowslive.com)
and details about what teachers and students should be doing so as
to start and then actually carry out the project will be sent to those
teachers/classes selected to take part.
The outcomes of their participation in
the project:
Teachers will contribute to a step-by-step
methodology that other foreign language teachers can follow to collaborate with
another class in another European country
Students will get to meet and communicate with
people their own age and use language for real communication. The best
e-booklet will be published at the RCEL website and certificates will be
provided to all participant virtual classes.
